Advanced Research Scholarship

The Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (GraSST) is a merit-based, open, competitive national scholarship program that gives Filipinos the opportunity to study or do research at the graduate level in a U.S. university. USAID awarded the scholarships to talented individuals who were able to demonstrate potential as future leaders and decision-makers in the STI field, and to contribute towards an innovation-led economic development.

Advanced Research Scholarship. This gives Filipino faculty from Philippine universities the opportunity to conduct science and technology research under the supervision of a professor in a U.S. university for at least six (6) months up to a maximum of 12 months.

The Research Scholarship has three (3) research tracks*:

  1. Thesis/Dissertation Research “Sandwich” Track – open to current MS and PhD students whose dissertation research topics have been approved by their thesis advisers.
  2. Post-graduate Research Track (Visiting Researcher) – open to current Philippine university faculty with MS and PhD degrees interested in doing research in science and technology toward economic development in the Philippines.
  3. Grants-related Research Training Track – open to Philippine university faculty involved in research projects being funded by USAID STRIDE at the time of application. Research activity in the U.S. must be integral and linked to the USAID STRIDE-funded project.
